George H Lovett Gallery Part 4

Born in Middletown, Connecticut on May 13, 1841 Augustus B. Sage became active 
in numismatics by the age of 16 in New York City. A founding member of 
the American Numismatic Society he was one of the most prominent figures
of the numismatic scene during its' heydey of the 1850's and 60's. Late in 1858 he
approached George H. Lovett about striking his first series of tokens, the Odds and 
Ends Token, and the rest is history!
